Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Omar Faruk has joined as the 3^rd Director General of Local Government and Rural Development Audit Directorate on 14^th July 2022. He is a member of BCS (Audit and Accounts) Cadre of 18^th Batch.

Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Omar Faruk has obtained the Bachelor of Social Science (Hons.) degree in International Relations from the University of Dhaka and completed his Masters in the same discipline. He has further obtained his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree, major in Human Resource Management (HRM) from the University of Dhaka. He has performed in a wide range of Government services at various capacities, mainly in Financial Management, Budgeting, Accounting, Auditing and Administration.

During his long career, Mr. Omar Faruk has worked as Director General of Social Security Audit Directorate; Director of Mission Audit Directorate; Chief Accounts Officer, Dhaka South City Corporation; Joint Finance Controller (JFC) of NAVY; Chief Accounts and Finance Officer (CAFO) of Ministry of Primary & Mass Education; Chief Accounts and Finance Officer (CAFO) of Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock; Chief Accounts and Finance Officer (CAFO) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other responsible capacities of the Audit & Accounts Department.
